Safety Information

The safety section opens with the signal-word system (DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, NOTICE, REMARKS) and then walks through every safety label fitted to the machine, keyed to a location diagram. It continues into the general safety rules for operation — clothing and personal protective equipment, fire extinguisher and first aid kit, handrails and steps, three-point contact when mounting, burn prevention for hot coolant and hot oil, fire and explosion prevention, and safe working distance from high-voltage cables. A dedicated safety maintenance information section covers the DO NOT OPERATE warning tag, working under the machine, the accumulator, high-pressure grease and track tension, high-pressure oil and hoses, and the periodic replacement of safety-critical parts.

Operation

The operation chapter is the practical core of the manual. It explains the monitoring system in detail — engine oil pressure monitor, charge level monitor, engine water temperature gauge, fuel gauge, service meter and engine pre-heating monitor — then the starting switch, horn, lamp, cab heater, windshield wiper and room lamp switches. From there it moves to the operating levers: safety lock lever, left and right work equipment control levers (ISO pattern), fuel control lever, blade control lever, travel levers, boom swing control pedal and travelling accelerator pedal. Window and door operation, the emergency escape hammer, lockable covers, engine hood, fuse and block fuse layout, and manual storage are all covered.

The chapter then provides the checks before starting, the correct procedure for starting the engine in normal and cold weather, warming-up, breaking-in a new machine, stopping the engine, checks after shut-off, and preparations for moving off, steering, swing, work equipment operation and prohibited operations. Transportation (loading, unloading, shipping), battery handling and booster cable starting, towing, lifting with the bucket, cold weather operation, long-term storage, and a troubles-and-actions section round out the chapter.

Maintenance

Maintenance opens with general information on service meter reading, genuine parts and lubricants, windshield washer fluid, welding instructions, dust protection and post-maintenance checks. It then sets out the lubricants, fuel and coolant specifications — including the ambient-temperature viscosity selection chart, the specified and refill capacities for each model, and the fuel sulphur content change intervals.

The tightening torque specifications list metric bolt torques and hydraulic hose torques with target and service limits. A safety-critical parts list gives the periodic replacement interval (every 2 years or 4000 hours, whichever comes first) for fuel hoses, spill hoses, hydraulic hoses, and the seat belt (every 3 years). The maintenance schedule chart breaks the work into Initial 250 hours, When Required, Every 100 hours, Every 250 hours, Every 500 hours, Every 1000 hours and Every 2000 hours, with a separate maintenance interval table for machines fitted with a hydraulic breaker. Each procedure is then written out in full — air cleaner element, cooling system, battery electrolyte, fuel filter, track shoe bolts, track tension (steel shoe, road liner and rubber shoe), rubber shoe and road liner replacement, bucket teeth, slide door rail and roller, fuel tank draining, air bleeding, engine oil and filter, hydraulic oil and filter, and fan belt tension.

Specifications

The specifications chapter lists the machine data for the PC27MR, PC30MR and PC35MR — dimensions, weights, working ranges, travel speeds, and the engine, hydraulic and electrical system data that the maintenance and operation sections refer to.

Attachments and Options

The attachments and options chapter covers general information, safety, installation, the bucket with hook and its hook condition, prohibited operations, the air conditioner (control panel, controls, maintenance), the radio, windshield washer operation and fluid level, the machine ready for attachment (locations, hydraulic circuit, attachment operations, long-term storage), changing the machine control pattern if a pattern change valve is fitted, the attachment guide, attachment combinations, and hydraulic breaker use.

What This Manual Lets You Do

With the Komatsu PC27MRx-1, PC30MRx-1 and PC35MRx-1 Operation & Maintenance Manual on hand, you can run the daily checks correctly, start the machine safely in cold weather, operate the work equipment within its limits, and — most importantly — carry out the full scheduled maintenance programme at the right intervals without guesswork. The manual gives you the exact capacities, torque values, service limits, adjustment figures and procedures that Komatsu specifies for these machines, so you are not relying on generic advice or a remembered figure.

When something goes wrong, the troubles-and-actions section and the maintenance procedures help you trace the fault and put it right. For a compact excavator working on a jobsite, the difference between a correct repair and a guessed one is measured in downtime, component life and safety.
