Preface
This catalog is published for parts requisitioning purposes and provides assistance in engine disassembly and reassembly. It contains a complete list of all engine components, including those not available as replacement parts.
In general, this spare-parts catalog covers more bills of material (BOMs) than are given in the Engine Configuration Card. Reference should therefore always be made to the Engine Configuration Card supplied with the engine.
Catalog Arrangement
- The catalog is subdivided into functional groups to aid in locating the individual parts.
- The applicable group designation and group number, known as equipment grouping code (EGC), appear in the page heading.
- The text and illustration pages within each group are sub-divided as follows:
01 – 09 = GA (basic Daimler Benz engine configuration) 80 = Listing of parts made in house 10 – 19 = SA 018. (special Daimler Benz configuration) 85 = Listing of purchased parts 20 – 29 = SA 080. (special Daimler Benz configuration) 50 – 58 = SA (special MTU engine configuration, modules) 60 = KW (MTU customer request)
- Validity of the bills of materials is specified on the Engine Configuration Card, with MTU SAs having priority.
Illustrations
- The page heading includes a five-digit illustrated table number and, in the second section, an additional illustration registration number.
Explanation of Columns
- C/N (Callout No.): Provides a cross-reference from illustration to text section. Non-illustrated parts are indicated by the suffix “Z” after the C/N.
- Order No.: This is the number valid for ordering the associated part.
- Designation: In addition to the precise part name, this column provides indication as to whether it is a single part, or an element of an assembly or functional group. An indented designation indicates the part concerned is included in the previous less or non-indented designation.
- Q/U (Quantity in Unit): This column indicates the quantity of this part required for the functional group. Qty. “0” indicates the part is replaced by an SA or KW part, or that it is a repair-stage component.
- U/M (Unit of Measure): The 2-character codes indicate: EA = each, KG = Kilogram, MR = Meter, RL = Roll, SE = Set.
- FN (Footnote): Provides additional parts information. For clarification of footnote symbols, see Page 2.
- Supplementary Designation: This column contains additional information, such as applicable standards, subcontractor designations etc.
- Item No.: This is the line identification number within the parts group.
- Remarks: This column is intended for supplementary information.
