Safety

This chapter defines the responsibilities of the operating company, the specialist and the driver, and lays out the basic principles for safe operation. It covers insurance cover on company premises, changes and retrofitting, changes to the overhead guard and roof loads, warnings regarding non-original parts, damage, defects and misuse of safety systems, fork arm length selection, tyre requirements, medical equipment considerations, handling gas springs and accumulators, and residual risks. It also includes an overview of hazards and countermeasures, danger to employees, safety tests (regular safety inspection, LPG system inspection, exhaust gas checks, insulation testing) and safety regulations for handling consumables including LPG, oils, hydraulic fluid, battery acid, coolant and cooling fluid.

Overviews

Provides labelled diagrams of the complete truck and the driver’s compartment, plus a detailed breakdown of the display operating unit and the various operating devices available: double mini-lever, three-way mini-lever, four-way mini-lever, joystick 4Plus, fingertip controls and the mini console. Each operating device is illustrated with numbered callouts identifying every lever, button, switch and display element.

Operation

The most extensive chapter in the manual. It begins with checks and tasks before daily use โ€” visual inspections, checking the side cover is locked, climbing into and out of the truck (including trucks with a raised driver’s cab), shelves and cup holders, adjusting the MSG 65/MSG 75 driver’s seat, armrest and steering column, unlocking the emergency off switch, switching on the key switch, access authorisation with PIN code, operating the signal horn, seat belt use, using the driver’s cab, opening the LPG cylinder valve (single and double-cylinder holder), opening the LPG tank shut-off valve, starting the engine, checking the brake system, steering system and emergency off function, zero adjustment of the load measurement, checking the vertical lift mast position, filling the washer system and cleaning the dust valve.

It then covers operating the display-operating unit in depth โ€” displays, adjusting the displays, symbols in the display, setting the date or time, resetting daily kilometres and daily operating hours, setting the language, softkeys for equipment variants, configuring Blue-Q efficiency mode, shock recognition, and additional settings. The Blue-Q efficiency mode is explained in full, including its functional description and which additional consumers it switches off. Driving is covered in detail: safety regulations when driving, driving conduct, visibility when driving, roadways and aisle widths, driving on gradients, warning about components projecting beyond the truck contour, condition of roadways, rules for roadways and the working area, hazard areas, setting the drive programmes, actuating the drive direction switch for each operating device variant, starting to drive, changing drive direction, starting drive mode for the dual pedal version, operating the service brake, zero braking, actuating the mechanical parking brake, applying and releasing the parking brake, steering, driving on ascending and descending gradients, reducing speed with a raised load, and automatic shut-off of the internal combustion engine.

Parking, lifting, handling loads and attachments are all covered extensively. Parking includes securing the truck and switching it off, plus the wheel chock variant. Lifting covers lift system variants, automatic lift cut out, lift mast vertical position, types of lift mast (telescopic and triplex), malfunctions during lifting mode, load chains not under tension, hydraulic blocking function, emergency lowering after the hydraulic blocking function has been triggered, and the lifting system operating devices. Handling loads covers safety regulations, load capacity, load measurement, picking up loads, adjusting the fork, the danger area, transporting pallets, transporting suspended loads, picking up loads, transporting loads, setting down loads and the shake function. Attachments are covered in detail: fitting attachments, releasing pressure from the hydraulic system, general instructions for controlling attachments, and specific control procedures for double mini-lever, triple mini-lever, quadruple mini-lever, joystick 4Plus and fingertip switch โ€” with and without the 5th function โ€” plus the clamp locking mechanism variant and taking up a load using attachments.

Auxiliary equipment includes switching the lighting on and off, working spotlights, working spotlight for reverse travel, rotating beacon, hazard warning system, turn indicators, double working spotlights, STILL SafetyLight, operating the windscreen wiper/washer, filling the washer system, FleetManager, shock recognition, cruise control, driver restraint systems and the ceiling sensor. Cab operation covers opening and closing the cab door, opening and closing the side windows, interior lighting, rear window heating, radio, heating system and air conditioning. Trailer operation covers towed load, coupling pin in the counterweight, automatic tow coupling (models RO243, RO244 A, RO245, RO841) and towing trailers. Display messages are listed with an error code table, general messages and drive-specific messages. Refuelling covers changing the LPG cylinder, changing the LPG cylinder in a double-cylinder holder and filling the LPG tank. Procedure in emergencies covers emergency shutdown, procedure if truck tips over, emergency hammer, emergency lowering, towing, jump-starting and disconnecting the battery. Transporting the truck covers transport, crane loading and cleaning. Decommissioning covers shutting down and storing the truck, and recommissioning after shutdown.

Maintenance

Covers safety regulations for maintenance (general information, working on hydraulic equipment, electrical equipment and ignition system, safety devices, set values, lifting and jacking up, working at the front of the truck). It provides general maintenance information including personnel qualifications, information for carrying out maintenance, the maintenance timeframe, the 1000-hour/annually maintenance schedule, the 3000-hour/every two years maintenance schedule, maintenance instructions, ordering spare parts and wearing parts, quality and quantity of required operating materials, the lubrication plan and the maintenance data table. It also covers providing access to maintenance points (opening and closing the side service flap, opening and closing the bonnet, installing and removing the bottom plate), preserving operational readiness (de-icing the evaporator, checking the engine oil level, topping up coolant and checking coolant concentration, replacing air filter cartridges, lubricating joints and controls, checking the door latch, maintaining the seat belt, checking the driver’s seat, greasing the automatic tow coupling, servicing wheels and tyres, servicing the battery, replacing fuses, lubricating the lift mast and roller track) and 1000-hour maintenance/yearly maintenance tasks (cleaning the radiator, checking the reversible fork arms, checking the fork arms, checking the hydraulic oil level, checking the lift cylinders and connections for leaks, checking the hydraulic system for leak tightness).

Technical Data

Contains the dimensions section with notes on steering column and seat adjustment, the complete VDI datasheet for the RX70-40, RX70-45, RX70-50 and RX70 50/600 covering load capacity, weight, wheels and chassis frame, basic dimensions, performance data and engine data, the wheels and tyres section listing permissible tyres for each model with tyre sizes, track widths and lift mast overall heights, and the fuse assignment table.

Why This STILL RX70 Operator Manual Belongs in Your Workshop

Whether you operate a fleet of STILL RX70 LPG trucks or maintain a single RX70-40, RX70-45 or RX70-50, having the correct operator manual on hand is the difference between guessing and knowing. This is the same document STILL supplies with the truck โ€” the original instructions, in English, covering the entire RX70-40 through RX70-50 LPG range. It tells you the correct LPG cylinder valve opening procedure, the proper way to change a fork arm, how to perform a load measurement zero adjustment, what every error code on the display means, when to schedule maintenance, and how to handle an emergency lowering if the hydraulics fail. The maintenance data table alone โ€” with oil capacities, grease specifications, torque values and service intervals โ€” will save you hours of guesswork and prevent costly damage from wrong fluids or incorrect procedures.
