Across its seventeen sections this service manual delivers the full factory-level procedure set for the Speed Triple 1050. You get step-by-step disassembly and assembly instructions with torque values, wear limits, and service data printed alongside each job; wiring schematics for every circuit on the bike; exploded views of the major assemblies; and pinpoint diagnostic routines keyed to specific DTCs from the engine management system. The scheduled maintenance chart alone maps every service item from the 500-mile first service through to the 36,000-mile interval, so you always know what to check and when.

Engine, Transmission and Performance Specifications

The manual covers the 1050cc transverse in-line three-cylinder, 12-valve DOHC engine with a 79 x 71.4 mm bore and stroke and a 12.0:1 compression ratio. Maximum power is listed at 130 PS (128 bhp) at 9,100 rpm up to VIN 281465 and 132 PS (131 bhp) at 9,250 rpm from VIN 281466, with 105 Nm (77 ft.lbf) of torque produced at 7,500 rpm up to VIN 281465 and 7,550 rpm from VIN 281466. The transmission is a six-speed constant mesh unit with a chain final drive, and the fuel system is an electronic sequential injection setup running at a nominal 3.0 bar fuel pressure. Coolant capacity is 2.8 litres, oil capacity is 3.50 litres on a dry fill, and the fuel tank holds 18 litres. Full torque wrench settings are laid out at the back of Section 1 covering the cylinder head, clutch, balancer, crankshaft, crankcase, engine covers, transmission, lubrication, final drive, cooling, fuel system, exhaust, airbox, rear and front suspension, wheels, front and rear brakes, frame, footrests, control plates, engine mountings, electrical and bodywork.

What This Workshop Manual Enables You to Do

With this Triumph Speed Triple 1050 service manual on hand you can carry out the same scheduled maintenance and repairs a Triumph dealer would perform, using the manufacturer’s own torque values, service limits and procedures. That includes adjusting valve clearances with the correct shim selection chart, renewing the camshaft drive chain and tensioner, rebuilding the clutch pack, checking crankpin and main bearing clearances with Plastigage, selecting the correct big end and main bearing shells by colour code, replacing pistons and liners, and reassembling the crankcases with the correct silicone sealer application and bolt tightening sequence. On the chassis side it covers fork oil changes with the 120 mm oil level setting, headstock bearing adjustment via the adjuster nut and locknut torque figures, brake caliper and master cylinder overhauls, ABS-free brake bleeding sequences for both early and late VIN ranges, rear hub and swinging arm bearing replacement, and drive chain wear measurement across 20 links with the 321 mm service limit.

On the electrical side the manual opens up the whole CAN-based engine management system, from the sensor and actuator locations through to step-by-step pinpoint tests for each DTC – so a misfire, a fan that never runs, a lambda fault or a CAN communication problem can be traced to the exact wire, pin or component before any parts are ordered. The complete system circuit diagrams are included in colour, covering the lighting circuit, starting and charging circuit, auxiliary and accessory circuit, and full-bike wiring for both the pre-281465 and post-281466 VIN ranges.

Who This Manual Is For

This PDF is written for trained technicians working in a properly equipped workshop, but it also contains enough basic information to make it useful to the owner who wants to carry out their own maintenance and repairs. A basic knowledge of mechanics, the correct hand tools and the specified special service tools are prerequisites for the more advanced jobs. Where an operation requires a Triumph special service tool – such as the fork spring compressor, sprag clutch holder, clutch anti-rotation tool, swinging arm adjuster wrenches or cylinder liner extractor – the tool number is called out and illustrated in use. Warnings, cautions and notes are clearly marked throughout, and safety-critical procedures such as brake bleeding, fork spring compression and crankshaft bearing selection are flagged so they cannot be overlooked.
