Which S130 This Book Matches

Always use the loader serial number when ordering parts or choosing a procedure. The plate sits on the outside of the loader frame. The four-digit model/engine combination and five-digit production sequence together identify the machine. The engine serial number is stamped near the injection pump, and the engine model number is on the valve cover. Early and later machines in the ranges above can use different parts, so the serial list on the cover of the Bobcat S130 Skid-Steer Loader Service Manual 6904121 (2009) is the first check before a teardown.

The powerplant identified in Engine Information is the Kubota V2203-M-DI direct-injected, liquid-cooled four-cylinder diesel. Displacement is 134 cu. in. (2.2 L). SAE net output is 46 HP (34 kW / 34.3 kW @ 2800 RPM in the loader specification table) with SAE net torque of 103.5 ft.-lb. (140.4 N·m) @ 1700 RPM. Rotation is counter-clockwise from the flywheel side. Glow plugs assist cold starts. A hydraulic-motor-driven cooling fan is controlled by engine coolant and hydraulic/hydrostatic fluid temperature sensors. Closed crankcase ventilation, a dry dual-element air cleaner, and a gear-pump pressure lubrication system with filter are specified.

Safety, Cab, and Service Setup

The opening safety pages set the ground rules used everywhere else in the Bobcat S130 Skid-Steer Loader Service Manual 6904121 (2009). Lift arms must be on an approved lift arm support device before anyone works under them. Jackstands go under the front axle tubes and the rear corners of the frame before the engine is run for service. The operator cab (ROPS per ISO 3471 and FOPS per SAE J1043 / ISO 3449 Level I, with Level II available) is raised only with the engine stopped; front corner nuts torque to 40–45 ft.-lb. (54–61 N·m) on reassembly. A cab-door sensor, when fitted, deactivates lift and tilt until the door is closed. Remote start tool kits MEL1563 and 6689779 plus the communicator and control harnesses are documented so a technician can run the machine with the cab raised. Trailer loading is backward with an empty bucket, the trailer rear blocked, and chains at the printed tie-down points.

Maintenance Rhythm Printed in the Schedule

The service schedule chart groups work at 8–10, 50, 100, 250, 500, and 1000 hours. Daily-range items include engine oil level, air-cleaner restriction, cooling-system debris and cold coolant level, fuel-filter water drain, grease at lift-arm, cylinder, Bob-Tach pin and wedge fittings, tire condition and sidewall-maximum pressure, seat bar and BICS function (lift and tilt must not operate with the seat bar raised), safety signs and treads, cab fasteners, indicators, hydraulic fluid and lines, and chaincase oil. First-50-hour items include wheel-nut torque and the first hydraulic/hydrostatic filter change. Later intervals cover spark-arrestor cleaning, battery service, steering-lever pivot grease, fuel-filter replacement, engine/hydro drive belt and accessory belts, lift-arm bypass function, charge filter and reservoir breather, engine oil and filter (250 hours under severe conditions), chaincase and hydraulic reservoir fluid, case drain filters, valve-clearance adjustment after the first 500 hours, and coolant replacement every two years. The hydraulic/hydrostatic fluid specified is Bobcat fluid P/N 6903117 (2.5 gal.), 6903118 (5 gal.), and 6903119 (55 gal.). Automatic transmission fluid is prohibited.

Hydraulics, Hydrostatics, and Final Drive

Hydraulic system information opens with a symbol glossary and a troubleshooting chart for no operation, warning-light complaints, slow or rough action, and related faults. The main relief is tested and adjusted at the control valve; system relief at the quick couplers is 2650–2750 PSI (182.7–189.6 bar). Pump capacity is 16.9 GPM (64 L/min.) at 3135 pump RPM and 91 percent efficiency. Separate pump chapters cover the standard gear pump and the SJC pump, each with pump-at-coupler tests, direct tests of the standard and charge sections, start-up after rebuild, parts identification, and disassembly. Lift cylinders (2.00 in. bore, 1.25 in. rod, 26.57 in. stroke), the tilt cylinder (3.50 in. bore, 1.50 in. rod, 14.50 in. stroke with dump and rollback cushioning), and the Power Bob-Tach cylinder each have leak-down testing plus seal-level rebuild. Standard and ACS/SJC control valves are broken down to individual spools, detents, port-relief and anti-cavitation valves, load checks, lock valves, solenoids, and the lift-arm bypass orifice. Related hardware includes the lift-arm bypass control valve, bucket position valve, rear auxiliary diverter, Power Bob-Tach block, front auxiliary coupler block, oil cooler, reservoir screen, and charge-filter housing.

The hydrostatic section treats the tandem piston pumps, motors, motor carriers (including the SJC carrier), charge pressure, drive belt, and case drain filter. Drive-system work continues into the sealed chaincase: #80 HS endless roller chain and sprockets, 33:1 engine-to-wheel reduction, 2.00 in. (50.3 mm) axles, eight 9/16 in. wheel bolts per hub, axle-seal and bearing service, chain replacement, cover removal, and the mechanical disc parking brake.

Electrical Analysis and Engine Rebuild Data

Electrical coverage runs from battery, 90-amp belt-driven alternator, and 4.02 HP (3 kW) gear-reduction starter through instrument panels, BICS lamps, ACS and SJC controllers, diagnostic service codes, calibration, traction lock, seat-bar sensor, flywheel RPM sensor, SJC wheel-speed sensors, steering drift compensation, keyless-start password setup, and Service PC connection through the remote start tool. Mainframe wiring schematics are printed for split serial groups, including S/N 529211001–529214882 / 529611001–529611918 and the later group S/N 529214883 & Above, 529611919 & Above, A8NW11001 & Above, A1Z711001–A1Z759999, A8KA11001–A8KA59999, and A84W11001 & Above.

Engine Service supplies the numbers a rebuild actually uses. Fuel-nozzle opening pressure is 2702–2916 PSI (186–201 bar). Injection timing is 6.2–8.2 degrees BTDC. High idle is 2860–3000 RPM and low idle is 1075–1225 RPM. Compression is 427–469 PSI (29.4–32.4 bar) with a 341 PSI (23.5 bar) limit and a 10 percent cylinder-to-cylinder difference. Cold valve clearance is 0.0071–0.0087 in. (0.18–0.22 mm). Cylinder bore is 3.4252–3.4261 in. (87.00–87.022 mm). Oil pressure at rated speed is 43–64 PSI (3–4.4 bar). Thermostat opening is 176.9°–182.3° F (80.5°–83.5° C), fully open at 203° F (95° C). Procedures include glow-plug testing, valve and seat reconditioning, piston and crankshaft service, timing-gear backlash checks, injection-pump timing, nozzle spray and seat tests, oil-pump inspection, hydraulic-fan motor service, and full engine R&I.

Use This Manual on the Job

The Bobcat S130 Skid-Steer Loader Service Manual 6904121 (2009) supports the jobs a working S130 actually generates: verifying BICS before returning a machine, setting main relief and measuring pump flow, rebuilding lift and tilt cylinders, testing charge pressure and hydrostatic components, opening the chaincase for chain or axle-seal work, reading service codes and following wiring by serial group, and measuring compression, valve clearance, and injector opening pressure on the Kubota V2203-M-DI. Those printed pressures, clearances, and torque values are what keep a repair from being a guess. After payment you receive the PDF immediately — no shipping wait — to open on a phone, tablet, or shop computer and print the pages you need at the bench.
