What the Crown CD60S-9 / CD70S-9 / CD80S-9 / CD90S-9 Manual Covers
Safety Section
Every warning sign and label fitted to the truck is reproduced with its exact mounting location, from the training-required warning on the left side of the seat support, through the contents-under-pressure warning on the radiator top tank and the no-hands warning on the mast, to the load backrest, overhead guard, no-riders and moving fan warnings. Parking brake engagement and release on the electronic switch is described alongside the audible alarm that sounds if the operator leaves the seat without applying it. The section then works through general hazard information, mounting and dismounting, pre-start checks, maintenance information, burn prevention, fire and explosion prevention, LPG handling, inspection of lines, tubes and hoses, and the tyre explosion hazard with the exclusion-zone illustration. A substantial block covers the operator restraint system, seat adjustment, seat belt inspection and fastening, tip-over avoidance using centre of gravity and the stability base, safety rules, and the survive-in-a-tip-over sequence.
General Section – Specifications, Capacity Charts and Identification Plates
Full declaration of conformity data is printed for both the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, Noise Directive 2000/14/EC and Stage-V exhaust gas regulation (EU) 2016/1628, and the UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 equivalent. The specification tables give load capacity, load centre, load distance, wheelbase, service weight, axle loading laden and unladen, tyre sizes, tread, mast tilt, free lift, lift height, overall dimensions, fork dimensions and carriage class for each model in both the 55 kW and 81 kW families, together with travel, lift and lowering speeds, drawbar pull, gradeability, engine output and torque, battery rating, attachment pressure and flow, fuel tank capacity and driver-ear sound level. Noise and vibration figures are tabulated separately. Capacity charts are provided both without and with a side shifter, for STD and FFT masts, and serial number locations are shown for the truck, engine, transmission, drive axle and side shifter. The Operator’s Warning and Identification plate is reproduced with the full mast and attachment abbreviation glossary.
Operation Section – Operator’s Station, Monitoring Systems and Driving Procedures
This is the largest working chapter. It walks through the operator’s station and monitoring systems, the instrument cluster and LCD menu tree including the vehicle, display and maintenance menus with password entry, multi-torque selection, transmission options, pin code access, speed limitation, weight scale calibration, seat belt sequence interlock and emission regulation setting, plus TCU auto clutch and auto inching calibration routines. The ECU and DCU fault code lists are printed in full, together with the DEF/Ad-Blue level inducement tables for USA and Europe and the SCR tampering, DEF quality and dosing interruption strategies. Also covered are the seat switch system, steering column tilt and telescopic adjustment, tow eye, fuse box with the J.B_1 to J.B_9 fuse allocation tables, circuit breaker reset, seat adjustment including the optional suspension and air suspension seats, direction control lever, inching pedal, service brake and accelerator, emergency lowering device, parking brake control and safety function, lift and tilt control, fuel and DEF/Ad-Blue replenishment, walk-around inspection, starting the engine cold and warm, jump starting from a 12 or 24 volt external source, post-start checks, electronic controlled diesel engine and after-treatment explanation, operating techniques, inching into loads, travelling with the load, unloading, turning, parking, lift fork adjustment, storage information, cabin tilting, transportation hints and towing information. The optional TMS (Lin-Q) telematics terminal is documented with its connector pin-outs and status LED behaviour.
Maintenance Section – Intervals, Torque Values and Service Procedures
The maintenance chapter opens with the air blower gun option, jacking information and the hydraulic jack and jack stand capacity table, then moves into inspection, maintenance and repair of lift truck forks, the causes of fork failure and the daily and 12-month inspection routines. Tyre inflation information including shipping pressures, torque specifications for hose clamps, standard bolts and nuts, taper lock studs and metric fasteners, cooling system specification with acceptable water limits and antifreeze concentration chart, fuel and DEF/Ad-Blue specifications including bio-diesel guidance, lubricant specifications, and lubricant viscosities and refill capacities are all tabulated. The maintenance intervals chart is followed by detailed procedures grouped under When Required, Every 10 Service Hours or Daily, First 50-100 Service Hours or a Week, Every 500 Service Hours or 3 Months, Every 1000 Service Hours or 6 Months, Every 2000 Service Hours or Yearly, Every 2500 Service Hours or 15 Months and Every 3000 Service Hours or 36 Months, covering engine oil and filter changes, transmission oil and filter, drive axle oil, parking brake test and adjustment, air intake system, belts, mast hinge pins, tilt cylinders, crosshead rollers, lift chain wear testing and adjustment, cooling system cleaning, fork inspection and the DEF/Ad-Blue supply module filter.
Environment Protection and Index Sections
A short environment protection section sets out the authorised servicing area and container requirements for coolant, oil, fuel, grease and electrolyte, and the index provides a full alphabetical reference to every topic in the manual so a specific procedure can be located quickly.
Why This Crown CD60S-9 to CD90S-9 Operation & Maintenance Manual Belongs in the Cab
These are 6,000 kg to 9,000 kg counterbalanced diesel trucks with electronically controlled common rail engines, SCR after-treatment and a ZF 3WG94 three-speed transmission. Getting a lift chain tension wrong, filling the DEF tank past the F mark, or skipping a parking brake adjustment on an electronic park system are all faults that end in downtime, damage or an unsafe machine. This manual gives you the numbers behind the job: the exact torque for wheel nuts and metric fasteners, the chain wear limit, the carriage roller extrusion height for STD, FF and FFT masts, the antifreeze concentration for the ambient temperature you are working in, the coolant and hydraulic capacities, the DEF level at which the engine derates, and the fault code meaning behind the engine check lamp on the display.
It supports the full working life of the truck, from the daily walk-around inspection and the pre-start checks, through scheduled 500-hour and 1000-hour services, to the 2000-hour and 3000-hour jobs and the DPF ash cleaning interval. Operators get the monitoring system explained clearly, including the seat switch behaviour, the automatic parking brake engagement, the multi-torque mode selection and the TMS (Lin-Q) terminal. Technicians get the fault code tables, the calibration routines and the service data tables without needing to search across three separate documents.
