Customer-edition illustrated parts manual for Hyster Challenger H25-40XM and H40XMS (E001) lift trucks — every major assembly, part number, exploded view and quantity, published under part number 1492521 (04/2016).
Description
The Hyster Challenger H25-40XM H40XMS (E001) Parts Manual 1492521 is the customer-edition illustrated parts catalog for the H25XM, H30XM, H35XM, H40XM and H40XMS lift trucks built under unit code E001. Issued in April 2016 under publication number 1492521, it is organised into fourteen major sections that walk from the frame and counterweight all the way out to the mast, carriage and forks, with exploded illustrations, item callouts, part numbers, descriptions and required quantities for every assembly Hyster used on these trucks. If you own, service or rebuild a Challenger H25-40XM or H40XMS, this is the document that turns a broken assembly into a parts order.

Read together, these sections give a technician full parts-level visibility of the whole truck: the engine in both gasoline/LPG and diesel form, the fuel and electrical systems including all the emissions variants, the transmission and drive axle, the braking and steering systems, the complete hydraulic circuit, and every mast variant Hyster shipped on the Challenger H25-40XM and H40XMS.
How the Manual Is Organised
The opening pages explain the lookup logic. If you already know the assembly but not the part number, you go to the table of contents, find the assembly and turn to the page it names. If you already have a part number, you use the Numerical Index in Section 14, which lists each number with its page and item callout. Assembly breakdowns list part numbers in supersession order (oldest to newest, with superseded numbers struck through), and each row carries a description, the quantity required for one assembly, and any key or footnote that tells you which variant the row applies to.
Keys and footnotes are used heavily because the same figure can serve several truck configurations. A key of A, B, C, D or E selects the correct quantity column for the variant you are working on, and two dots in the quantity column mean the part is not used in that build. Indented descriptions show assemblies and sub-assemblies — a sub-part sitting under a major assembly is listed with its own quantity per assembly, so you can work out exactly how many you need to order for the job. Serial number breaks are printed throughout: an arrow pointing to a number marks the last unit affected, an arrow pointing away marks the first unit affected, and a two-arrow range covers everything in between. Date breaks appear where a change happened without a later serial break, and ECN numbers flag pending serial numbers.
Part Identification Reference
Before the first parts figure, the manual reproduces Hyster’s own identification guidance. It shows where the truck serial number is printed on the nameplate and where it is stamped on the frame, explains how the serial number itself is built up (truck unit code, plant letter, production sequence and year letter), and then does the same for lift equipment: fork part number and capacity rating stamped below the top of most forks, the carriage group number on the top or bottom crossmember, the mast identification number with its carriage-travel figure in millimetres, and tilt and lift cylinder group numbers stamped on the cylinder shell. Side-shift carriages and attachments carry their own nameplate, and the serial number on that plate is what you use to identify the attachment. SPED-modified masts, carriages and attachments are identified by a model prefix beginning with the letter S.
Options and Field Conversion Kits
Sections 12 and 13 are effectively the build-sheet end of the catalog. Section 12 covers factory and dealer-fit options — side-shift and integral side-shift carriages, side-shift cylinders, auxiliary tubes, the full wheel and tire matrix (drive and steering, standard rim, split rim, standard tread 35 in.), lifting eyes, drive and rear lights, and the back-up alarm. Section 13 lists the field conversion kits that let a truck be reconfigured after delivery: light kits, drive tire and fender kits, hydraulic control valve conversions, directional control conversions (forward/reverse lever to Monotrol and back), mirror kits, audible alarm kits, mast tilt kits, auxiliary tube extension kits, header hose conversion kits for two-stage limited free-lift, two-stage full free-lift and three-stage full free-lift, and fork assembly kits.
What This Parts Manual Lets You Do
With this Hyster Challenger H25-40XM H40XMS parts manual open on the bench, you can identify and order the correct part for practically any assembly on the truck rather than guessing from a generic catalog. The illustrated breakdowns cover the engine (gasoline, LPG and diesel), the fuel system including the EPA-compliant and low-emissions LPG variants, the full electrical system with every wire harness used across the model range, the transmission, torque converter and drive axle, the brake and steering systems, the hydraulic circuit and control valves, and all three mast configurations with their cylinders, chains, sheaves, carriages and forks. Serial number breaks and keys mean you can pick the right part for the exact truck in front of you instead of a part that fits the earlier or later build.
That matters when a machine is down. Ordering the wrong cylinder seal kit, the wrong wire harness or the wrong load roller is a delay you can’t afford, and the quantities and footnotes in this catalog remove most of the guesswork. The Numerical Index makes a reverse lookup quick when all you have is a part number stamped on a component. The part identification section tells you where to find the truck, mast, carriage and attachment numbers so you can confirm you are working on the right configuration before you order.
