General Information
Opens with the machine components diagram — every major assembly numbered from the engine and hydraulic pump to the bucket and track shoe. Identification numbers are covered here too, with the spaces for recording the machine serial, engine serial, and the serials of the hydraulic pump, swing reduction gear, travel reduction gears, and the control valves.
Safety, Decals, and Hand Signals
The safety chapter is not an afterthought. It lays out the safety area (full 360° swing plus 6 feet), utility line precautions with the US/Canada color code, operator precautions for mounting, starting, operating and maintenance, and then documents every safety decal on the machine with its location and part number — counterweight lifting eyes, fuel tank lifting, pressurized hot oil, hot parts, stop engine, hot coolant, booster cable, California Proposition 65, pilot hoses, rotating parts, swing, diesel fuel, hydraulic oil check position, antifreeze, grease points, serial plate, pattern control change valve, foot pedal attachment operation, nibbler/breaker maintenance, long range attachment, work mode selection, pinch points, control pattern, break glass in emergency, and the falling front window. The hand signal section is fully illustrated for raise/lower load, move load horizontally, raise/lower boom, swing left/right, arm in/out, counter rotate, travel forward/reverse, close/open bucket, turn left/right, move this much, move slowly, stop, emergency stop, and stop engine.
Instruments and Controls
Everything inside the cab: door locks and latches, windshield opening and storage, lower front window removal, door glass, dome light, document pouch, the eight-way operator seat adjustment, arm rest, control stand height, seat belt, safety lock lever, fuel cap, engine cover. Then the operator compartment controls: ignition switch, throttle potentiometer, hour meter, gauge cluster with coolant temperature and fuel level gauges, screen change switch, buzzer stop, work mode switch, travel speed select, wiper and washer, menu, maintenance display, auto warm up, clock and display adjustments, pump flow adjustment for nibbler/breaker, LCD display icons and warnings, 24-volt cigarette lighter, radio, climate control with air outlet diffuser, hydraulic function cancellation lever, 12-volt power supply, and fuse box. The operating levers are covered in both ISO and optional BHL patterns, along with the travel levers and pedals and the rear view camera.
Operating Instructions
Starting and stopping the engine above and below 0°C, booster cable starting with the correct connection sequence, machine warm-up (auto and manual), the control decal and operating pattern, basic hydraulic control operation, work mode selection (S, E, H, plus B and A for breaker and nibbler), machine travel controls, travel speed select, travel safety, attachment and swing operation, power boost, auto acceleration, practices to improve efficiency, operation in extreme cold, heat, altitude, sand and dust, seashore, and humidity, recommendations for longer undercarriage life, bucket selection, the hydraulic breaker section with selector valve and stop valve settings, transportation by road, lifting the machine with and without attachment, and machine storage.
Lubrication, Filters, and Fluids
Every fluid and lubricant capacity is here: engine oil (SAE 15W-40, 26.0 L pan to H level, 28.5 L total), hydraulic oil (AW 46, 245 L tank, 386 L system), swing motor reduction (SAE 90 GL4, 7.4 L), travel motor reduction (SAE 90 GL4, 9.5 L each), track upper rollers (50 cc each × 4), track lower rollers (160 cc each × 16), track idlers (200 cc each × 2), operating lever joints, upper attachment pins, swing bearing, track tension, swing ring gear bath (lithium base grease with MOS2, 28.7 kg), radiator coolant (ethylene glycol, 13.5 L radiator, 30.0 L system, with 30% and 50% mix tables), and fuel tank (diesel No. 2, 580 L). Required filters are listed for hydraulic, engine, fuel, and operator cab. Lubricant specifications are broken out by climate zone, and there’s a section on bio-degradable oils.
Maintenance and Adjustments
The maintenance chapter is the largest in the book. General safety, hazardous waste disposal, hot surface precautions, tag-out procedure, contamination prevention, seals and O-rings, welding safety, and the procedure for releasing hydraulic system and tank pressure. Then the DPF section, followed by the lubrication and maintenance quick reference chart. Daily inspection covers engine oil, coolant, fluid leaks, engine electrical, fuel level, hydraulic oil, hydraulic functions, hydraulic oil leaks, steps and handholds, frame structure, rollers, track tension, boom and arm. The interval maintenance sections run through 50 hours (attachment lubrication, fuel tank drain, belt wear and tension, batteries, bolt torque, counterweight bolts, track tension, hydraulic return filter), 120 hours (intake and intercooler hose, swing motor reduction oil, travel reduction oil), 250 hours (radiator cap and hoses, belt, swing ring gear and bearing lubrication, counterweight bolts, fresh air filter, engine air filter), 500 hours (engine oil and filter, fuel filters, fuel tank and strainer, swing reduction oil, control lever joint, slewing ring bolts, travel motor reduction oil, attachment lubrication, A/C refrigerant), 1000 hours (hydraulic return filter, engine air filter, engine mount bracket, valve clearance), 2000 hours (engine coolant, suction strainer, pilot line filter, swing reduction oil, swing bearing grease, rollers and idlers, travel motor reduction oil, seat belt and ROPS), 5000 hours (hydraulic fluid, dust seals, bucket, bucket/arm/link clearance, reversing bucket, removing and installing the bucket, bucket teeth and side cutters), and the separate nibbler/breaker maintenance schedule.
Electrical
Alternator, starter motor, fuses with the full fuse box amperage and function table (36 circuits), batteries with specific gravity chart, fusible starter link, and the mechatro controller (CPU) and engine controller (ECU) locations.
Specifications
General specifications with machine dimensions, working weight by shoe width (600, 700, 800, 900 mm), digging forces, attachment working ranges, bucket selection chart, boom, arm, bucket, and shoe specifications. Performance specifications cover travel speed, swing speed, gradeability, drawbar force, engine specs, engine speeds, hydraulic components, and operating pressures. Machine and component weights are broken out. The lifting capacities section runs eighteen separate tables covering standard and heavy lift for 2.6 m arm with 1.60 m³ bucket in 600/800/900 mm shoes, 3.3 m arm with 1.40 m³ bucket in 600/800/900 mm shoes, and 4.15 m arm with 1.20 m³ bucket in 600/800/900 mm shoes. Torque specifications for metric coarse and fine thread, ORS joints, nuts and sleeves, flare fittings, N2 tube fittings, and the torque values for most common bolts. Weight of materials table and conversion units.
Index
Cross-referenced to every procedure, specification, and component in the manual.
Why This Manual Matters
The SK350-9 is a 35-tonne class excavator with a 213 kW (290 HP) HINO J08E-UV engine, and it is not a machine you learn by trial and error. The operator’s manual is the document that tells you how to start it in cold weather without damaging the starter, what the DPF regeneration procedure actually does, how to read the LCD warning icons before they become a breakdown, which grease goes into the swing ring gear bath and how often, how to set the pattern control change valve correctly, how to interpret the maintenance display when it shows a negative remainder on the fuel filter, and how to lift the machine safely if you ever have to. It is also the document that tells you what the machine weighs with each shoe width, what the lifting capacities are at every reach and height combination, and what torque to apply to the counterweight bolts and the slewing ring bolts.
For a machine at this level — construction, earthmoving, trenching, demolition, breaker work, lifting — the difference between the right procedure and the wrong one is measured in downtime and component life. The maintenance chapter alone is worth the price of the manual: the interval schedules are specific to this machine, the fluid capacities are exact, and the procedures are written for the person doing the work.
