Description
When a Komatsu 930E-5 comes into the shop, guesswork is expensive. This is the complete Komatsu 930E-5 Dump Truck Shop Manual — the same document Komatsu published under reference CEBM042400 for trucks from serial A40694 and up. At roughly 1,160 pages, it covers the entire machine from the steering accumulators to the after-treatment SCR canisters, and it is organized exactly the way a working technician needs it: specifications first, then how each system is built and how it operates, followed by test and adjust procedures, troubleshooting, and finally the full disassembly and assembly sequences with maintenance standards.

01 Specifications
The front of the manual lays out the machine data you need before a job starts: overall dimensions, weights, dumping angle, tire size, and the engine, drive system and electrical ratings for the 930E-5. It also carries the recommended fuel, coolant and lubricant chart plus the suspension cylinder oil and nitrogen specifications and the wheel motor oil requirements.
10 Structure and Function
Every major system on the truck is explained here with system layouts and operation descriptions. Steering covers the steering/brake pump, bleeddown manifold, control unit, piston-type accumulators and flow amplifier. The hoist section walks through the hoist control valve, pilot valve, counterbalance valve, overcenter manifold, and the hoist cylinders. The brake section covers the service brake, parking brake, brake lock and the hydraulic brake cabinet layout. Electrical system coverage includes the 24V battery supply, disconnect switches, engine starting and prelube, auxiliary control cabinet, body-up and hoist limit switches, and the auto lube system. Suspension and engine emissions after-treatment system operations round out the chapter, along with the KomVision camera, radar and tire monitoring overviews.
20 Standard Value Table
A consolidated reference of standard values for the new machine — engine speeds, travel speeds, dump body raise and lower times, steering effort and play, pedal and lever operating forces, brake pressures, suspension cylinder installed lengths and nitrogen pressures, and accumulator precharge values. This is the table you keep open when checking a truck against spec rather than pulling numbers out of a dozen different sections.
30 Test and Adjust
This is where the manual becomes a working tool. It opens with the hydraulic system checkout procedure including accumulator bleeddown, pressure gauge installation, initial startup and flushing, steering flow amplifier and pump unloader valve adjustment, auxiliary accumulator checkout, hoist system checks and the counterbalance valve adjustment. The brake system checkout covers the full sequence with a data sheet, brake leakage checks, piston leakage tests, floating seal and oil separation seal pressure tests, wet disc brake bleeding, parking brake bleeding, and disc wear inspection. Accumulators and suspensions are covered with bladder and piston accumulator charging procedures plus suspension oiling and charging. There is also a dedicated auto lube system section, a full HVAC and refrigerant section, and an electrical systems checkout with voltage and resistance tables.
40 Troubleshooting
Organized two ways — by fault code and by symptom. The standard truck fault codes are listed alphabetically (A001 through A366, CA-series after-treatment codes, and KomVision fault codes), each with fault conditions, resulting problems, operator alerts and related information. Beyond fault codes, the troubleshooting chapter walks through the steering system, steering/brake pump, auto lube and HVAC with symptom-based troubleshooting guides, plus fuses, diodes and relays with vehicle electrical center (VEC) layouts for VEC 89, 90, 91 and 92 and the rear terminal mini-fuse and relay boxes RTMR3 and RTMR4.
50 Disassembly and Assembly
The largest chapter in the manual, covering removal and installation plus full disassembly and assembly for the major components. It starts with a special tools list and general tire and rim precautions, then moves through wheels, spindles and rear axle; steering control unit, column, wheel, bleeddown manifold, flow amplifier, tie rod and steering cylinder; the steering/brake pump and piston steering accumulators; brake treadle valve, dual relay valves, brake manifold, piston brake accumulators, front and rear wheel brakes, and parking brake; hoist pump, hoist control valve, hoist pilot valve and hoist cylinders; front and rear suspensions; dump body, body pads, diagonal ladder, grille and hood, retarding grid, RH and LH decks, control cabinet and auxiliary control cabinet; retractable ladder cylinder, fuel tank and hydraulic tank; operator cab, doors and windows; and the full power module with radiator, engine and alternator removal, installation, and alignment procedures including crankshaft endplay and runout measurement.
60 Maintenance Standard
Standard torque tables for metric class 10.9, SAE grade 5/8/9, T-bolt clamps, split flange clamps, JIC 37° swivel nuts, pipe thread and O-ring boss fittings. Also the proper shutdown procedure, hydraulic system bleeddown and vacuum procedures, power cable inspection, long-term storage instructions, DEF equipment de-crystallizing procedures, hydraulic pump specifications for the steering/brake pump and hoist pump, and the wet disc brake service and parking brake wear criteria.
90 Circuit Diagrams
Steering, hoist and brake cooling hydraulic schematic, brake hydraulic schematic, auxiliary hydraulic schematic, and a multi-sheet electrical schematic with symbol legend, wire legend, harness designation table, cable designation table, and a full circuit index covering the 24V power distribution, starting, monitoring, lighting, brake and hoist controls, engine interface, after-treatment, KomVision and payload systems.
Who This Komatsu 930E-5 Shop Manual Is For
This manual is written for the people who actually work on the truck: mine maintenance technicians, field service mechanics, rebuild shops, and technical trainers who need to know how the 930E-5 is put together and what the correct pressures, torques and clearances are. If you maintain a fleet of 930E-5 haul trucks, this PDF belongs on the shop laptop — it takes you from a fault code on the operator display all the way to the component that needs to come out, and then back together again to spec.
Why the Correct Procedures and Specifications Matter
A 930E-5 is an electric drive truck with 4,000 hp class retarding, high-pressure hydraulics, and a suspension system charged with nitrogen. The wrong torque on a wheel stud, a mis-set accumulator precharge, or an unchecked crankcase endplay after an alternator re-install can turn a routine service into a major failure. The Standard Value Table, torque tables and acceptance criteria in this manual are the difference between a repair that holds and one that comes back on a hook. The troubleshooting chapter also saves time on the diagnosis side — instead of swapping parts, you can follow the fault code logic and the pump, valve and accumulator checks to isolate the fault before the first wrench moves.
