Complete 335-page Mitsubishi 6D1 Series industrial diesel engine shop manual from September 2001. Covers 6D14, 6D14-T, 6D15-T, 6D16, 6D16-E, 6D16-T, 6D16-TE, 6D16-TL and 6D16-TLE engines with specs, troubleshooting, service standards and step-by-step teardown procedures.
Description
The Mitsubishi 6D1 Series Industrial Diesel Engine Shop Manual is the full workshop reference published by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in September 2001 for the 6D14, 6D14-T, 6D15-T, 6D16, 6D16-E, 6D16-T, 6D16-TE, 6D16-TL and 6D16-TLE industrial diesel engines, with coverage that also applies to the SK330(N)LC-6E machine. It is written for the technician working on the engine itself, not the chassis: every system is classified into a numbered service group and each group opens with specifications, troubleshooting, service standards, tightening torques, lubricant and sealant points, and special tools before the disassembly and reassembly procedures begin.

The shop manual is organised by Mitsubishi’s own group numbering. The top-level chapters are:
- General (Group 00)
- Engine (Group 11)
- Lubrication (Group 12)
- Fuel and Engine Control (Group 13A)
- Electronically Controlled Fuel System (Group 13E)
- Cooling (Group 14)
- Intake and Exhaust (Group 15)
- Clutch (Group 21)
- Electrical System (Group 54)
- Special Equipment (Group 61)
General (Group 00)
General specifications for every 6D14, 6D14-T, 6D15-T, 6D16, 6D16-E, 6D16-T, 6D16-TE, 6D16-TL and 6D16-TLE variant, engine number and name plate locations, engine output tables classified by application, maintenance precautions, and the full standard tightening torque tables for hex-head bolts, stud bolts, flange bolts and nuts by strength classification. If you need the safe dry or wet torque for an M14 or M24 fastener on the 6D16 family, it is here.
Engine (Group 11)
The largest section. Structure and operation of the cylinder head and crankcase (wet liner engines 6D14, 6D14-T, 6D15-T and dry liner engines 6D16 through 6D16-TLE), the valve mechanism, connecting rods, pistons, timing gears, flywheel and flywheel PTO. On-vehicle inspection covers measuring compression pressure with the compression gauge adapter, and checking and adjusting valve clearances. Full teardown and rebuild sections follow for cylinder head and valve mechanism, pistons, connecting rods and cylinder liners, flywheel, timing gears, camshaft, and crankshaft and crankcase — with the plastic region tightening method and punch-mark reuse rules spelled out for cylinder head, connecting rod and flywheel bolts.
Lubrication (Group 12)
Oil flow schematic for the full lubrication circuit, the gear-type oil pump with its built-in relief valve, spin-on and replaceable-element oil filter designs, oil cooler with bypass valve, regulator valve, engine oil pressure switch, and the oil jets that cool each piston. On-vehicle work includes oil filter replacement, engine oil replacement, and oil pressure measurement with the correct adapter.
Fuel and Engine Control (Group 13A)
Fuel system layout, primary and secondary fuel filters, sediment-trap water separator, the injection pump body with its delivery valve, plunger, control rack and overflow valve, RSV and RFD governor types, feed pump with gauze filter, SA-type and SPG automatic timers, boost compensator, injection pump drive, and the 1-spring and 2-spring injection nozzles. On-vehicle adjustment covers checking and setting injection timing and minimum / maximum no-load speeds.
Electronically Controlled Fuel System (Group 13E)
The electronically controlled injection pump used on the 6D16-TLE, built around the RED-4 internal circuit, linear DC motor, control rack position sensor and dual engine speed sensors. Includes glow control logic, the full diagnostic trouble code list and issue conditions, Multi-Use Tester-II service data, actuator tests, ECU connector pin voltages, checks on transient troubles and electrical equipment inspection.
Cooling (Group 14)
Cooling system water flow, belt-driven involute water pump, wax-pellet bottom bypass thermostat, radiator, automatic cooling fan coupling and V-belt tension adjustment. On-vehicle sections cover replacing coolant and cleaning the cooling system, air bleeding, and gas leak testing.
Intake and Exhaust (Group 15)
Cyclone and cartridge air cleaners, pre-cleaner, mechanical and electric dust indicators, T04B, T04E, TBP4 and TF07 turbochargers with the waste gate and overboost valve mechanisms, intercooler, and both intake and exhaust manifolds. Turbocharger sections include disassembly, cleaning, inspection limits for turbine wheel bend, journal diameters, piston ring grooves, back plate and center housing, and actuator operating pressure adjustment.
Clutch (Group 21), Electrical System (Group 54) and Special Equipment (Group 61)
Clutch body and bearing case. Alternator variants (24V-35A up to 24V-90A, 12V-60A and 12V-80A, with and without vacuum pump, brushed and brushless), 24V-5kW / 24V-6kW / 12V-5kW starters with the planetary reduction gear, charging circuit, preheating circuits for air heater and glow plug types, engine starter circuit, safety relay, automatic stop system, and the air compressor and air pressure governor under Special Equipment.
Who this Mitsubishi 6D1 shop manual is for
This is the reference the workshop reaches for when a 6D16-TE is hard to start, when a 6D14-T is losing power under load, when valve clearance or injection timing has to be set against the printed service standards, or when a turbocharger, injection pump or alternator has to come apart. Every value, limit and remedy shown in the service standard tables, every tightening torque, every lubricant and sealant call-out, and the special tool part numbers are all in one place so a rebuild can be planned and completed without guesswork.
