- 4. Maintenance
- 5. Specifications & Service Data
1. Safety
The safety chapter is built for supervisors and operators alike. It sets out the responsibilities of supervisory personnel, the requirements for qualified operators, and how to plan and mark out a working area. It draws a clear line between proper and improper uses of a forklift — covering transport of people, towing, pushing loads and similar misuse — and explains how to select the correct truck type and load for the job. You get detailed guidance on pre-operation inspection, inspection during transporting of the truck, traveling on public roads, and the fundamentals of how a lift truck actually works: fulcrum points, the triangle of stability, center of gravity, and the relationship between rated load and load center. The remainder covers safe traveling, load handling, parking, inspection and service safety, fire prevention, and the caution plates fitted to the truck.
2. Operating Controls
Every control, instrument and indicator on the FG and FD series is identified here. Pictorial nomenclature pages show the layout of the operator station; the chapter then walks through the starter switch, combination lighting and turn signal lever, speed mode select switch and horn button. The monitor unit section lists every gauge and warning light: fuel gauge, hour meter, cooling water temperature gauge, engine oil pressure, air cleaner clogging, sedimenter, radiator water level, charge, engine system check, fuel level, parking brake, seat belt, glow indicator, interlock and neutral. The traveling interlock system and seat belt interlock are explained step by step, followed by the shift levers (C type and T type), lift and tilt levers, steering wheel and steering column tilt lever, parking brake lever, clutch/inching/brake/accelerator pedals, operator’s seat adjustment, seat belt, engine hood and gas damper, overhead guard, load backrest, safety step and hand grip, tow pin, fork stopper and fork lock bolt, fuel tank cap, lights and lamps, sideview mirrors, torque converter oil filler, hydraulic oil tank cap, fuse box, radiator cap and reservoir tank, and optional equipment.
3. Operation
This is the section that teaches the operator how to run the truck correctly. It opens with break-in guidance for the first 200 hours, then moves into the relationship between load and truck stability, the basic load center, rated load and the conditions under which the stability figures actually hold. It explains how to use the inching pedal on T type trucks, how to travel and start on slopes, how to load and unload the truck onto a trailer, and how to mount and dismount safely. Engine starting — including cold starting for both gasoline and diesel engines — warming up, gearshifting (C type and T type), slowing down, turning, and parking are covered step by step, along with ground-condition cautions, snowy or frozen road operation, cold and hot weather measures, and the load handling procedures for pick-up, stacking, unstacking, and storing. Long-term storage and returning the truck to service afterwards are included too.
4. Maintenance
The maintenance chapter opens with the preoperational checklist — general condition, oil and water leaks, previous repairs, tire inflation pressure and condition, hub nut torque, overhead guard, battery electrolyte level, cooling water level, engine oil level, fan belt deflection, rear combination lamps, hydraulic oil level, hydraulic piping and cylinders, torque converter oil level, load backrest, forks and fork stoppers, head lamps and combination lamps, seat belt, operator’s seat and steering column, sideview mirrors, shift levers, load handling levers, parking brake lever, warning lights, fuel level, lights and lamps, turn signals, horn, clutch and inching and brake pedals, mast operation, lift chain tension, steering wheel play, exhaust gas condition, brake test, steering test, parking brake test, and back-up light and alarm. Engine room illustrations are provided for the GK45 gasoline engine and the S6S diesel engine, followed by procedures for removing water from the sedimenter, air bleeding the fuel system, replacing fuses and the fusible link, replacing tires and repairing a flat, replacing lamp bulbs, jump starting with an auxiliary battery, and adjusting parking brake operating force. The chapter closes with the periodic inspection tables — monthly (200 hours), 3 months (600 hours), 6 months (1200 hours), and annual (2400 hours) — plus the periodical replacement schedule for safety-critical parts such as master cylinder cups, power steering hose, fuel hoses, torque converter rubber hose, lift chain and load handling hoses.
5. Specifications & Service Data
Full specifications for both the gas-powered and diesel-powered trucks are collected here: rated load, basic load center, maximum height, free lift, fork lifting speed, traveling speed, gradability, turning radius, overall dimensions, wheelbase, tread, fork size and spacing, ground clearance, service weight, engine model and output, and tire sizes with inflation pressures. Standard and optional equipment lists are included, along with the load charts for the 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 tonne models. Service data covers standard engine settings, bolt and nut torque values, refill capacities and recommended lubricants for the hydraulic tank, brake system, transmission, differential, torque converter, radiator, fuel tank, engine crankcase, wet-type clutch, and grease fittings, plus the name plate location, truck serial number, component serial numbers, and engine serial number location.
What This Manual Lets You Do
With this Operation & Maintenance Manual in hand you can run, inspect, and maintain a Mitsubishi Logisnext FG or FD series forklift the way the manufacturer intended. You can carry out the daily and shift-start preoperational checks that keep the truck safe, set tire pressures and hub nut torques to specification, diagnose warning-light faults before they become failures, service the GK45 or S6S engine correctly, adjust the parking brake to its standard operating force, replace fuses and bulbs with the right capacity, and follow the 200 / 600 / 1200 / 2400-hour inspection and safety-part replacement schedules so the truck stays in service. The load charts and service data give you the exact numbers when it matters most — particularly on a machine where a wrong load center or an under-torqued hub nut can put the operator at serious risk.
