Section 1 – Reference Data
The reference data sheet identifies the crane, its customer, the work order and the equipment number. It is the starting point for verifying you are working on the correct machine before any procedure begins.
Section 2 – General Instructions
This is the largest instructional section of the Munck overhead crane service manual. It opens with general information, qualifications for operators, and the warning that failure to read and follow safety procedures can result in equipment damage, serious injury or death. Crane pre-operation inspection and procedures are covered in detail, including daily and pre-shift inspections, maintenance routines, procedures for crane repairs, and procedures for the safety of persons working on cranes or from crane runways.
The operating do’s and don’ts chapter lists the practices that keep the crane within its design limits – and the mistakes that damage rope guides, wire rope, brakes and motors. The signal schedule reproduces the standard hand signals for controlling overhead and gantry cranes, including hoist, lower, move slowly, stop, emergency stop, dog everything, bridge travel, trolley travel, multiple trolleys, swing and magnet disconnect.
Installation, erection and commissioning covers crane rails, rail installation, runway tolerances, positioning of the crane on the runway, assembly of the crane, lifting into position, electrical equipment, power supply, test drive and functional test. The crane drive machinery chapter explains the parallel flanged/helical geared brake motors and the gear rimmed wheel drive used as Munck standard. Electrical equipment covers pendant control, control from the operator’s cab and bridge traveling limit switch. Use and maintenance gives daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly routines, and fault finding – electrical circuits provides a schedule of possible faults and corrections covering main current, control circuit fuse, pendant station, main contactor, loose connections, drive motors, hoist motor, push button station, emergency stop, start button, limit switches and wire rope guide.
The lubrication chart closes the section with the lubricant recommendations and intervals for gear oil, open gears, spherical bearings and ball bearings, cross-referenced to BP, Noreles, Somobile, Shell and Texaco products.
Section 3 – General Arrangement
The crane general arrangement drawing shows the 19316 mm (63′-4 1/2″) span, the 4750 mm wheelbase, the 118 mm hook travel, the 7620 mm lift height, the conductor track, the pendant track and the backup pendant position. It is the reference drawing for the complete crane assembly.
Section 4 – Hoist Specifications
Hoist specifications begin with general instructions covering arrangement drawings, oil level checks, limit switch adjustment, voltage drop checks and wire rope clamp retightening. The main hoist service manual covers hoist type 3241 and the 3241-2626 hoist used on this crane, with recommended spare parts, hoist motor data for the 6275 series, brake functional description, electrical connections, brake serial F construction, braking torque adjustment, replacing the electro magnet, replacing the brake disc, gear spare part charts, drum and drum housing spare part charts, drum inspection, maintenance routines and checklists, lubrication, wire rope and wire rope guiding, installation of new wire rope, and limit switches.
Section 5 – Trolley Specifications
Trolley specifications include the trolley arrangement and trolley assembly drawings for the 30 Tonne trolley with hoist model 3241-2626, 5′-0″ wheelbase, 3′-0″ gauge and the loadbeam assembly. Trolley wheel assembly details are included, along with the service manual for the drive motor and gear unit.
Section 6 – Bridge Specifications
Bridge specifications cover the bridge wheel assembly, drive wheel assembly and idler wheel assembly. The 15″ live axle drive wheel assembly with FA77 gearbox and the 15″ fixed axle idler wheel assembly with bearing, spacer, grease shield and keeper plate details are all documented. The drive motor and gear unit service manual is referenced from Section 5.4.
Section 7 – Electrical Schematics
Electrical schematics include track and panel details, pendant details, collector bracket assembly and the bridge power and control wiring diagram. The bridge power and control wiring drawing shows the 460/3/60 bridge power supply, the Altivar 31 VFD, bridge motor #1 and #2, bridge brakes power supply, radio control supply, brake relay and rectifier, and the parameter menu settings for the drive.
Section 8 – Frequency Drive Manual
The Altivar 31 frequency drive manual covers installation, programming, commissioning, diagnostics and troubleshooting for the VFD used on the bridge and trolley. It includes factory settings, drive thermal protection, motor thermal protection, HMI description, menu structure, settings menu, motor control menu, inputs/outputs configuration, command menu, application functions, fault management, communication and the index of parameter codes with customer setting tables.
Section 9 – Radio Remote Control Manual
The Munck Tele Radio remote control manual covers the Tiger system used on this crane, including transmitter and receiver descriptions, technical data, PIN code and RFID authorization, start-up and shutdown, login/logout, quick logout, battery information and charging, removal of the internal battery, product pages for the TG-RX-MNL7 and TG-RX-MDL17 receivers, installer’s guide for registering, erasing and replacing transmitters, automatic shutdown, frequencies and channels, relay functionality, operating modes, load select and the battery guide.
Why This Munck 30 Tonne Overhead Crane Service Manual Matters
A 30 Tonne overhead crane is a piece of production equipment where an incorrect brake adjustment, a mis-set limit switch or a missed wire rope defect can stop the whole plant – or worse. The Munck 30 Tonne T/R D/G overhead crane service manual gives you the specific procedures, tolerances, torque values and wiring references that apply to Equipment #14-4739, not a generic crane guide.
With this manual you can perform pre-operation inspections, diagnose electrical faults using the fault finding schedule, adjust hoist brakes, replace the brake disc and electro magnet, inspect and renew wire rope, set upper and lower limit switches, service the trolley and bridge drive motors and gear units, configure the Altivar 31 frequency drive, and maintain the Tele Radio radio remote control system. The maintenance routines are broken into daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly intervals, and the lubrication chart tells you exactly what to use and when.
