Description

Piper PA-32 Cherokee Parts Catalog PA-32-260 PA-32-300 PA-32R-300 753 689

This download is the Piper Aircraft Corporation illustrated parts catalog issued as part number 753 689 for the Cherokee six-place family:
PA-32-260, PA-32-300, and PA-32R-300. The same listing set also carries seaplane-coded items for the
PA-32S-300 EDO float installation. Issued June 27, 1975 and carried through the April 1980 card revision (PR800414), the catalog exists so a mechanic or owner can match a visible assembly to a Piper part number, a quantity, and the serial block that actually used that piece.

The introduction states the purpose plainly: simple but positive identification of replacement parts. It also states the limit that matters at the bench: this catalog shall not be used for rigging and installation. Use it to name the wing tank, cabin door, gear cylinder, or trim servo correctly, then go to the applicable maintenance data for how that part is fitted and adjusted.

Airframes and Serial Blocks Covered

Page 1A5 of the Piper PA-32 Cherokee Parts Catalog PA-32-260 PA-32-300 PA-32R-300 753 689 lists the serial numbers that belong in this book. Order against the airplane data plate, not against a model nickname alone, because many figures split left/right and early/late hardware.

PA-32-260 coverage runs from 32-1 through the 1978 block 32-7800008, including the lettered B, C, D, and E groups and the model-year blocks printed for 1973 through 1978.
PA-32-300 coverage starts at 32-40000 and continues through the 1979 block 32-7940282, again with B, C, D, and E groups and printed 1973–1979 year blocks.
PA-32R-300 coverage is listed as 32R-7680001 through 32R-7680538 (1976), 32R-7780001 through 32R-7780549 (1977), and 32R-7880001 through 32R-7880068 (1978).

Seaplane hardware is not a separate card. Codes such as “Used on PA-32S-300 Seaplane Model only” appear on wing, fuselage, pitot, and float figures, and Figure 57 is the EDO float installation. Several wing and fuselage drawings also cite 32S-40000 to 32S-7240147 where the seaplane skin or fitting differs.

How Listings Are Read

Each illustrated group is paired with a parts table. Columns are Figure and Index Number, Part Number, Code, Nomenclature, No. Req., and Serial Numbers Affected. Indentation in the nomenclature column shows the assembly tree: order the undented door assembly and the indented frame, hinge, and clip travel with it; order only the hinge if that is all that is needed. “AR” means as required. Letter codes printed on the grid before each listing restrict a line to one model, one serial band, seaplane use, or a vendor source.

Parts coded “W” are directed to Piper Aircraft Corporation, Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Parts not coded “W” are directed to Piper Aircraft Corporation, Vero Beach, Florida. Attaching hardware that is ordinary commercial stock is listed after the part name with the AN, MS, or NAS identity so the installer can match the fastener even when Piper does not stock it as a finished kit.

The original Aerofiche layout is preserved in the headers. Grid callouts such as 1A8 or 2J16 identify card, row, and column. A complete table of contents sits at grid 1A8; later cards repeat a contents list from grid A3. Figure 1 is the whole-airplane key that points each major group to its section number before the reader opens the exploded view.

  • Section XI Miscellaneous Group — placards and exterior stencils; optional equipment kits and repair kits; numerical index

Taken together, those eleven groups give a technician a map of every illustrated replacement item the catalog authors assigned to these Cherokees: skins, ribs, spars, tanks, doors, seats, instruments, gear legs, floats, hydraulics, engines as purchased assemblies, exhaust, cowling, fuel plumbing, cables and pulleys, wiring hardware, and the factory option kits. The numerical index at grid 3D10 closes the book so a known Piper number can be traced back to its figure without walking every section.

Engines, Propeller, and Airframe Options Called Out in the Listings

Power-plant figures treat the engine as a purchased assembly. PA-32-260 listings name Lycoming O-540-E4B5. PA-32-300 listings name Lycoming IO-540-K1A5 and, on later serials, Lycoming IO-540-K1G5. PA-32R-300 listings name Lycoming IO-540-K1A5D through 32R-7680140 and Lycoming IO-540-K1G5D from 32R-7680141 and up. Those lines also point the reader to Lycoming Division-Avco Corporation, Williamsport, for the engine itself. Adjacent figures cover mounts, baffles, cowls, exhaust, and constant-speed propeller hardware, including serial splits on the PA-32-260 propeller installation.

Optional equipment is not segregated into a separate “options only” catalog. Air conditioning appears on PA-32-300 serials 32-40853 and 32-7240056 and up and on PA-32R-300 from 32R-7680001. Club seating and aft-facing center seats appear from the 32-7700001 / 32-7740001 / 32R-7680001 bands. AutoFlite, AutoControl, AltiMatic, electric trim, radar altimeter, encoder, and later radar-system drawings sit in Section X with their own serial fences. Section XI then lists optional equipment kits and repair kits with a long code key that subtracts items such as a rotating beacon, propeller and governor, external-power plug, vacuum pump, or wheel fairings from a kit when the airplane already has different equipment.

Paint, Placards, and Identification Aids

A standard paint chart occupies grids 1A6 and 1A7. Exterior acrylic lacquers and DuPont Imron polyurethane enamels are listed by color name, manufacturer number, and Piper quart/gallon numbers (Pontiac Red, Juneau White, Ocala Orange, Madrid Red, Bahama Blue, Dakota Black, and the remaining chart colors, plus wash primer and reducers). Placard and exterior-stencil figures 123 and 124 split early serials (PA-32-260 32-1 to 32-1110 and PA-32-300 32-40000 to 32-40565) from later serials and PA-32R-300. Those pages are the place to match a faded flap-warning plate or an external-power stencil to a current part number rather than guessing from a photograph.

Using the Catalog on a Specific Airplane

Start at Figure 1 to learn which section owns the part. Open the matching exploded view, read the index balloon, then drop to the table and read the code line and the Serial Numbers Affected column. A left-wing leading-edge assembly, a PA-32R-300 hydraulic pack, a Cleveland versus McCauley nose wheel, or a late forward cabin door will not share a number with the early fixed-gear counterpart even when the shape looks similar on the ramp. The catalog’s value is exactly that discrimination.

Because the Piper PA-32 Cherokee Parts Catalog PA-32-260 PA-32-300 PA-32R-300 753 689 is an identification book, it does not replace torque tables, rigging travel, or wiring troubleshooting charts. What it does replace is guesswork when a cracked rib, worn flap bushing (63900-19 / 63900-20), leaking tank, or missing gear-door hinge has to be ordered by the number Piper printed for that serial.

What This Catalog Lets You Do

With this file a shop can identify and order wing, fuselage, tail, landing-gear, float, hydraulic, power-plant, fuel, flight-control, electrical, and avionics replacement parts for the PA-32-260, PA-32-300, PA-32R-300, and coded PA-32S-300 airplanes listed above. Correct part numbers and serial effectivity keep the wrong door skin, tank, or retractable-gear cylinder off the work order. After payment the catalog is delivered as an instant PDF for screen use or shop printing—no shipping delay, usable on any device that opens a PDF.
