Description

Philips All Magnets — Magnet SPDs Master Reference for In-House Engineers

This is Philips document DMR319213, Revision 03 (issued April 2019, CSIP Level 1), the master Service Procedure Document index for all Philips superconducting MRI magnets. Its purpose is to give complete background information about every Philips superconducting magnet type and to provide organized hyperlinks to all magnet-related service procedures. It is designed specifically for trained MR engineers and in-house service personnel who need to navigate the complete Philips magnet service ecosystem quickly and accurately. This is the starting point for any structured in-house MRI magnet service program covering the full Philips portfolio.

Magnet Types Covered

This document applies to all Philips superconducting MRI magnets. Magnet applicable details are provided for each type:

  • F2000 — 1.5T, 10K refrigerator, MEU or MIB with RMMU electronics; supports 1.5T Achieva, Intera, Multiva, Ingenia CX
  • Zebra — 1.5T, 4K refrigerator, MEU electronics; supports 1.5T Achieva, Multiva, Ingenia CX
  • Titan — 3.0T, 10K refrigerator, MIB with RMMU; supports 3.0T Achieva
  • Rex — 3.0T (or 1.5T XR), 4K refrigerator, MEU or MIB with RMMU; supports 3.0T Achieva, 1.5T Achieva XR, 3.0T Ingenia CX
  • Ludwig — 1.5T, 4K refrigerator, MEU, side turret; supports 1.5T Ingenia, Ingenia S
  • Mozart — 3.0T, 4K refrigerator, MEU, side turret; supports 3.0T Ingenia, Ingenia Elition
  • HFO — 1.0T, 4K refrigerator, MEU or MIB with RMMU, HFO turret; supports 1.0T Panorama
  • Ranger — 1.5T, 4K refrigerator, MEU, front turret; supports MR-Linac
  • Gecko — 1.5T, 4K refrigerator, MEU, side turret; supports 1.5T Prodiva
  • Rio — 1.5T, 4K refrigerator, MAC electronics, side turret; supports 1.5T Ingenia Ambition

Magnet Identification System

The document explains the complete Philips serial number (PMS No) structure — 11-character format (11_222_3333): first character identifies magnet type (T*=F2000, V*=Zebra, T*=Titan, J*=HFO, U*=Rex, W*=Ludwig/Mozart, R*=Ranger, G*=Gecko, E*=Rio), second group identifies field strength (100=1.0T, 150=1.5T, 300=3.0T), third group is serial number. Older 10K magnet PMS numbering (single letter + 4 digits, e.g. S3xxx, T3xxx, T6xxx) is also documented. Information plaque contents are described including maximum working pressure, weight, cryostat volume, IGC serial number, and CE acceptance number (CE-0036).

Service Procedure Categories Indexed

  • Energize, Adjust Field, or Discharge — Automatic Ramp Unit (ARU), Magnet Power Supply (MPS), sealed magnet MED procedure, customer energize
  • Shimming Procedures — F2000 and Zebra, Titan, HFO, Rex, Ludwig, Mozart, Ranger, Gecko, Rio
  • Maintenance — Helium fill, control electronics battery replacement, MaUPS replacement, dual compressor manifold, adsorber service, leak check, manual ERDU circuit test
  • Procedures — Helium fill, burst disk replacement, minimal quench recovery, basic quench recovery
  • Refrigeration System Information — Compressor technical and operational manuals indexed: HC-8C, HC-8E, CSW-71, F-50, F-70, F-40, FA-40, dual compressor interconnect; coldhead generations Gen2, Gen3, Gen4
  • Shipping Procedures — Per-magnet shipping guides for all types; shipping tools (Airship Tool, Land/Sea Ship Tool 4K)

Compliance with Specifications

The document lists applicable standards: Directive 97/23/EC (PED), ASME Section VIII, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, CISPR 11, UL 60601-1, CSA C22.2, JIS T 0601-1, and EMC Directive 89/336/EEC — plus a full environmental compliance matrix covering Montreal Protocol, PCB regulations, packaging, and mercury management directives across EU and USA jurisdictions.

Why This Manual Is Valuable

A facility operating any Philips superconducting MRI system needs a single trusted reference to identify which service procedure applies to their specific magnet, confirm its field strength and supported systems, and navigate to the correct shimming, charging, or maintenance document. This master SPD provides exactly that — it is the roadmap that an in-house MR engineer needs before picking up any tool. For departments managing multiple Philips MRI platforms, the magnet identification tables and cross-referenced procedure index make this document the essential first file to open.
